As always the first MAGE meeting will have FREE PIZZA for anyone who attends. We will also be giving out MAGE shirts to anyone who becomes a member, while supplies last. Since we are running low on shirts we will be getting some more sometime this year. Probably with a contest for a new shirt design.
The meeting will be at 12pm next week Monday, the 10th, in the student orgs conference room. If you do not know how to get there, please refer to this map.
This past weekend we helped out with a few of the Welcome Week events. Some members attended the movie night where they showed Final Countdown. We also assisted with the Trouble Tournament by giving out free t-shirts. Allen Long took second place in the tournament winning a DVD player.
MAGE is now the proud owner of a Flickr account and a Yahoo ID. Our first image has been uploaded. Soon we will begin to upload more images, and implement a gallery for viewing them on the site. Without further adieu, here is our first image!
Today there is an open house in the CC building. MAGE is attending as usual. We have one less table at this open house, probably due to there being a greater number of clubs attending this one. Feel free to stop by if you are in the area.
Concinnity 7 was March 31st and April 1st. There were some great events, so thanks to everyone who stopped by!

If none of these are of interest or you’d like to do something that you think a chair position could be opened for, you may apply for those as well, such as Video Gaming chair, which we’ve had in the past. If you missed being elected as an executive or just want to get your feet wet in helping MAGE run its various activities, holding a chair position is an excellent way of getting the valuable experience needed to make yourself more valuable and viable to be an executive officer in coming years. So, if you’d like to fill a chair position, check your email for the chair position application or download it here, and either email it to the current secretary, Allison Block, or print it off and hand to any executive or chair currently in office. Join us for Sci-Fi night tonight (Wednesday, January 10th) at 8PM in the Schroeder room, located on the second floor of the library.
We will be watching the first episode of “Stargate SG-1.” Next week we will also start watching “Andromeda” so come back then too!

We of MAGE wish you all a safe and happy holiday break and hope to see you all in two weeks for the resumation of winter quarter January 8th. There are many important things that’ll be happening after the break. For firsts, Anime Night will be kicking off the MAGE event list with 3 new series, Martian Successor Nadesico, Samurai 7 and Vandread in the Todd Wehr Auditorium at 8 pm. Scifi Night makes its long awaited return to existence Wednesdays at 8 pm in the Schroeder room with Stargate SG-1 and Andromeda. And finally, that weekend, MAGE is hosting their second convention of the year, SnowCon, which we’ve been in the process of planning for the past few months. Don’t forget the MAGE meeting, which occurs Mondays at noon in the Student Conference Room, when officer nominations will begin. Any MAGE member is eligible to hold an officer position, so if you think you would like to help shape MAGE’s direction for the coming year, run for a position. And finally, the Convention meeting is Wednesdays at 6 in the MAGE office, where we will make final preparations for SnowCon and move on to working on our biggest convention of the year, Concinnity!

Come join MAGE at the Prerelease of Eragon tonight! The movie starts at 7:30 pm, though if you were lucky enough to get on the bus for guarenteed seats, the bus leaves from in front of the CC at 6:00 pm. Make sure you print off the email if you got onto the bus, so that you can get checked off as the bus is loaded. Don’t forget to dress up for the costume contest, which is open to all, even non-MSOE people. The top 3 costumes, by audience choice, will win prizes, as provided by MAGE.
Otherwise, make sure to show up early, as the seating is first come, first serve. If you’re too late, you may not get in. I repeat, having a ticket doesn’t guarantee a seat. Make sure you are at least an hour early for a good chance of getting seating.
